More About Coach Cut
What began as a humble vision—a spark ignited on Little League fields—has grown into a profound journey that led me to the helm of a college baseball program. The path was neither linear nor easy, but like the game itself, it demanded resilience, patience, and the unwavering belief that adversity sharpens character. Along this journey, I discovered that true coaching transcends the diamond; it reaches into the hearts and minds of those we guide.
As a head coach, my purpose extends beyond wins and losses. It is rooted in shaping individuals who can face life’s challenges with the same grit and composure they show on the field. Through my work in life and mental performance coaching, I’ve come to understand that success is not defined by external accolades but by the quiet strength cultivated within—the discipline to persist, the courage to embrace discomfort, and the wisdom to grow through every failure.
This journey, born from a dream, continues to be a testament to the power of vision, the necessity of action, and the art of steady, deliberate progress. Each step forward is a reminder that while we cannot control the outcome, we can always control our effort and attitude.

Mindful Meditation

-
Find a Comfortable Position:
-
Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor or cross-legged on a cushion.
-
Rest your hands on your knees or lap.
-
Keep your back straight but relaxed.
-
-
Settle and Relax:
-
Close your eyes or soften your gaze.
-
Take a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth to settle into the moment.
-
-
Focus on Your Breath:
-
Allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.
-
Pay attention to the sensation of the breath entering and leaving your body.
-
Feel it at the nostrils, chest, or abdomen—wherever it’s most noticeable.
-
-
Anchor Your Attention:
-
Choose a point of focus, like the rise and fall of your belly or the air passing through your nose.
-
Mentally note “inhale” as you breathe in and “exhale” as you breathe out.
-
-
Be Present:
-
When your mind wanders (and it will), gently acknowledge the distraction without judgment.
-
Bring your attention back to your breath.
-
-
Use a Counting Technique (Optional):
-
If staying focused is challenging, count your breaths: inhale (1), exhale (2), up to 10, then start over.
-
If you lose count, simply begin again.
-
-
Practice Acceptance:
-
Accept whatever arises during the meditation—thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations.
-
Let them come and go like clouds passing in the sky, returning your focus to the breath.
-
-
End with Awareness:
-
After a set time (start with 5–10 minutes), slowly bring your awareness back to your surroundings.
-
Open your eyes, take a deep breath, and take a moment to reflect on how you feel.
-
Tips for Success:
-
Consistency Matters: Try to practice daily, even if only for a few minutes.
-
Create a Routine: Meditate at the same time and place each day to establish a habit.
-
Be Kind to Yourself: It’s normal for the mind to wander—what matters is returning your focus to the breath.

In life and in sports, the mental side controls 82% of the outcomes, with studies showing that only 18% of your physical preparation plays into the equation.
Mental Performance
Your belief system governs every choice you make—from deciding whether to push snooze to hitting the gym to conquering the big game or that high-stakes meeting. These seemingly small decisions shape the trajectory of your success. Recognizing this, it becomes clear that guidance and support are essential to unlock your full potential and take you where you’re meant to be.
